    ORVIS SAFE PASSAGE SLING PACK

The Sling Pack, Orvis' most popular style of pack, has undergone an upgrade. Sling style allows the angler to wear it over one shoulder, completely out of the way, while allowing quick and easy access to gear. A slightly larger size accommodates more fly boxes. We've upgraded the shoulder strap with a cushy, foam-padded, streamlined design for all-day comfort. A bright interior allows you to easily spot stray flies, while the molded back panel keeps your body cool and your mind on the fish. Forcep sheath on the shoulder strap features a magnetic anchor for easy access and securing. Unique zinger and tool attachment system allows easy integration of your favorite tool into the pack, providing quick and easy access to the tool while minimizing the chance catching. Strategically-placed water bottle holder can be accessed without turning the pack around. Cord loops allow the addition of a tippet bar. Fly drying patch on the top of the bag. Internal pockets and dividers help organize your gear; internal Velcro strip allows for the addition of a waterproof pocket (8G3H) to protect electronics. Sternum straps prevent excess movement of the pack while fishing or hiking. Burly 410-denier nylon boasts a coating along the bottom of the pack for increased water resistance. In olive/gray. 9" x 5" x 15 3/4". 641 cu. in. Nylon. Imported.

A good pack for summer fishing but I ran out of room when it started getting colder. Fortunately the pack retains a good resale value.

    Better than simms

I received this sling first and then bought the simms. I figured if I did not like the simms I could give it to my grandson. The sims is nice, but as a true sling with numerous well placed pockets, this is hands down better. The water bottle holder puts it over the top. And much more comfortable.

I have been a vest fisherman but with the heat of summer I knew I needed to try something different. I first tried a few different waist bags but either too small, or if large enough, too bulky and in the way. Then looked at slings and after much research decided to buy the Orvis safe passage sling from RFR, which is a great company, and after several fishing outings - I think I found a bag that will work year round. The magnetic forceps holder on the shoulder is brilliant, tippet holder works great, room for several large fly boxes, my waterproof pouch (optional) fits snuggly, water bottle holder is out of the way. Much to like. One thing I wish was different is having double zippers on all of the compartments. I prefer zipping up rather than down but minor. Yes I recommend this sling as great alternative to a vest.

This bag started my fly fishing addiction. Thought it would be a good bag for Disney. When I got it, I was so impressed that I started researching fly fishing and the rest is history. I stumbled into the best day bag for this sport. They thought of everything, very comfortable, light weight and many compartments for fly gear and self defense

Really great pack. Got the Fishewear color and it is not only functional, but cool looking too! Plenty of space for a day on the river. Room for flies, gear, and a couple of snacks. Comfortable, seems durable, and built for fly-fishing with a fly patch, forceps pocket, and net loop. Very nice.

The Orvis Safe Passage Sling pack has more than met my expectations. I decided earlier this year to convert to a sling pack after over 30 years of wearing a vest. The sling pack has reduced the stress on my shoulders during a long day fishing while providing plenty of room for all of the necessities. It has been used on five trout fishing trips and one smallmouth trip. There is enough room for two large fly boxes capable of holding articulated smallmouth streamers without issue. The large compartment holds much larger boxes than my vest was capable of holding. The pack often remains on my left hip while on the river. It seems more convenient than sliding it back to front every time I change flies. Especially if I am nymphing an area where a lot of flies can be lost. When walking from place to place it is definitely more comfortable in the normal position on my back. Overall, I really like the Orvis sling pack and I am even considering a second one so I can keep one loaded with trout gear and one with smallmouth gear.

So I had a house fire and lost all my gear, the RFR team has been extremely helpful and super fast email responses which is key in today's market. This bag has storage areas that poca and orvis description leaves out. Great comfort, cool camo pattern and high quality zippers. Nice magnetic holder for forecepts on strap. And tippet holder hook ups on exterior. For the money couldn't be happier!

I've had several packs so far, this one is the most comfortable and most ergonomic. Plenty of room for everything you want to carry. Excellent quality as well.
