HAWKINS HAT TRICK
Big eyes, rubber legs, and just a hint of marabou—a proven big fish combination. Each color of the Hawkins' Hat Trick should have a slot in your streamer box. Fish it shallow or deep, with slow strips or fast. It's a versatile and enticing morsel for hungry predators in a multitude of situations.

I have found the Hawkins Hat Trick to be the perfect pattern for smallmouth and largemouth bass. The feathers and silly legs create a tail with extremely realistic underwater movements and the dumbbell eyes allow the fly to sink at a steady rate. This fly is also durable, able to take hits from toothy predators and other bumps your fly might encounter without taking significant damage. Out of the three colors, white has been the most effective pattern for the fish in my area. In conclusion, this is a highly effective and durable fly that will work for a variety of different species.

I was given one of these long ago and the guy who gave it to me just called it a hat trick. Odd that this site carries it, I mainly bought it to copy and tie up for my own. Great pattern for bass and walleye.

I use these a lot chasing smallies, they can’t resist. Haven’t caught a trout in them yet but seems like a great fly.
