I picked up the Devil's Canyon to replace my Terror Ridge. Main reason was for the BOA fit system, or the Twisty Clicky as I like to call it. Tying your boots is for the birds. Who needs it? Less time tying, more time fishing. Beyond that, Korkers are incredibly comfortable to hike in, and just as comfortable standing in a river all day. Swapping soles instead of boots, genius! Korkers also has the best customer service around. Stop reading the reviews, just buy them already!

Replaced Korker Darkhorse. I could wear these boots as every day footwear. It would look a little goofy, but they're that comfortable. I have a wider foot, but not super duty wide. Just as another reviewer wrote, with thicker neoprene socks, they're solid. I thought maybe there would be some pinch at the cuff, but nothing like that at all. Just comfortable and really light.

Boot is lightweight . quick on and off with ease. Can't beat the adjustment super easy on those cold fishing days when frozen laces are just a pain . Very good support and toe area nicely covered for increased durability. Highly recomend

This is the second pair of Korkers i have owned . The first pair are 8 years old and showing severe ware and decided to purchase this new design for my Alaskan fishing trip recently. Boots do not hold water like my older pair and ease of on and off can’t be beat. Fit with Boa system is excellent with zero slippage . Light weight was also a positive attribute . Multiple sole selection is tops, Best value at this price

Lightweight and Easy On/Off ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 5

It came down to these or the Simms Headwaters Boa. I am getting older and have rheumatoid arthritis, so getting things on and off is difficult for me. I needed a boot with with a Boa system that was easy to put on and take off wet. For long days wading weight is very important. As a climber I am always thinking 'an ounce on the foot is like a pound in the pack.'
I have never before used anything from this brand, so here are factors that made me give the Korkers a try instead of my go-to brand (Simms):
- They are just more than a half pound lighter per boot (9.5 oz). That is a big, big weight difference when it is on your foot all day.
- The ability to swap out soles - I fish for cutts a lot, both from the beach and from a boat. The rest of my fishing ranges from very large rivers to very small streams. I need a different sole for different circumstances (I am getting tired of having lots of different boots). These days for the rivers there is even more variety depending on regs and whether I need cleats or not, etc.
- $30 cheaper
- Good warranty (first year)
I have worn the boots a couple times so far (I will update this review if my opinion changes over time), and found them to be very light and comfortable. Most importantly, they are very, very easy for me to get on and take off. They quickly and easily loosen enough to just slip in my foot, or to lift my foot out using the toe of my other foot to hold the heel. Tightening the laces with the Boa knob is not too bad, even with my weakened hands. Someone with 'regular' strength hands will find the Boa system really, really easy.
It is summer, so so far I have been wearing them with neoprene socks and wet wading. I have tried them on with my waders, and with Simms wet wading socks and the fit is the same. I agonized over what size to buy. My shoe size is a straight size 11 regular in literally everything I wear. According to the size charts this means I should be a size 12 in these boots (to accommodate the bulk of wader booties). I ordered a size 11 and they are perfect with neoprene, and too large without any socks at all. At first I thought even the size 11 was too big, as the toe box is roomy even when fully tightened with neoprene socks or my stocking foot waders. Turns out that toe box space is just the design of the boot. The not-too-tight toe box helps prevent my toes from getting cold, and I have found my feet are not cramping the way they often do with a tighter boot. I should note - my foot does not slop around - the fit is snug and secure for challenging wading circumstances - it is just not crushing/compressing my toes. For reference, I am a true size 11 foot size, and wading in 3.5mm thick socks and the size 11 boot is a perfect fit for me.
Switching out the soles is easy, and my fears of 'throwing a sole' proved unfounded. The system does secure them quite securely, and assuming the materials do not wear out from repeated sole changes, I no longer have any doubts about the benefit of being able to have multiple soles for a single pair of boots. Saving the environment in more ways than one is kinda cool with this system - I need fewer pairs of boots which means fewer manufactured, and I always have the proper soles for the conditions I am fishing.
I cannot yet comment on overall durability, but will report back if they wear out prematurely in any way. My only area of concern is the locations where the tabs on the soles press into the bottom of the boots. It seems like this location could crack or tear, effectively preventing the sole from 'locking' into the boot. A lot of people have used these boots, and presumably a lot of testing has gone into this specific feature. The upshot is that is the system that secures the soles fails, the boots are useless. I am going on faith that is will not fail for many years of use with hundreds and hundreds of sole changes - time will tell and so will I if they ever fail.
And my standards are pretty high...I have a pair of Danner felt soles I have been fishing for just over 30 years. 30 years! I never thought I would prefer any of my wading boots to my Danners...but I was wrong. Because these are so easy to get on and off, there is no question these are superior. I spend a lot of money on fly fishing, and compared to my rods, reels, and waders these boots were downright cheap. So far I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase and feel I made the right call to get this particular pair of boots.
