This is nice and comfortable for extended lengths. For me it's better tha. A bag due to my back. I really like beimg able to slide the bag behind me while fishing. The storage fits all the boxes i would need for a single day out.

I like rocking the belt as it frees up my upper body to do the fishing. Great quality belt.

I had a hard time choosing between the Switchback 2.0 and the Switchbacl Pro. I eventually went with the 2.0 because after doing a fit check it easily had room for the three fly boxes I normally carry. It also had room to spare for things I'd carry inside

I had a hard time choosing between the Switchback 2.0 and the Switchbacl Pro. I eventually went with the 2.0 because after doing a fit check it easily had room for the three fly boxes I normally carry. It also had room to spare for things I'd carry inside the pack like split shots, indicators, etc. I also purchased a Simms Flyweight Trashpod which I attached to the Fishpod belt to use when required to carry a lunch/snacks or to stuff a rain shell. The Simms Trashpod provides the option to have extra storage when needed but is folded up and out of the way when not needed. I really like the compact size and feel of the 2.0. The Pro just felt too large for my needs.

All in all, this is a super cool belt/pack. The integrated net holder is wonderful. I like the small size of the pack because I'm going to fill it no matter what and if it was any bigger it would start to weigh me down. There are lots of great features including tiny straps to keep the extra belt length from hanging down in the way. The shoulder strap is awesome. I have 2 gripes: 1, I don't like the obsession for every fly fishing gear maker of hanging your gear outside of the pack. I would love some internal straps to attach my stuff on retractors so they won't get caught on branches, line, etc. My old pack had those and they were great. 2. The sliding rail for the pack is amazing, but I just wish the belt buckle was offset to one side and I could swing the pack all the way around to the front. I have to twist quite a bit to get to it, so it can be difficult standing in the river wrestling my rod, pack, fly box, etc. trying to get the right tippet out.

Fishpond makes great gear. I think their wading belts and the Switchback system whether 1.0 version, the Pro version, or this 2.0 version are all fantastic. I am going to focus on the 3 switchback systems for someone who is wondering what the differences are. Their specs and descriptions don't do a great job explaining the differences in my opinion. The 1.0 is great. The Pro's sliding pack is significantly bigger and the belts on the Pro and 2.0 are more rigid aka stiffer than the 1.0. The net pocket on the Pro and 2.0 belts is slightly off center. Look at the photos carefully and you can see. This isn't a problem just something to be aware of. Of course you can rotate the belt on your waist to put the net pocket in center but one of the sides of the belt will be much shorter on your waist. The switchback material is very different on the Pro and 2.0. I think the 1.0 actually looks and feels better. The 2.0 and Pro might be more durable hence the changes? You can decide your own option just notice there is a difference. The 1.0 sling portion has little grippy dots on the back of the part that rests on your chest so it sticks in place well. The Pro and 2.0 don't have these grippy dots. The bag on the 1.0 and 2.0 are both 2L in size. The 1.0 is shorter and wider with 2 usable pockets. The 2.0 is Taller and thinner with one usable pocket. It has a zippered second pocket but it's not very easy to use due to flap and side zipper placement vs top zipper like on the 1.0 - check it out yourself. The 2.0 has an easy grab handle on top and the 1.0 does not. If you like to carry a little more gear but don't want to step up to the 5L Pro go with the 1.0. The Hypalon attachment location on the 2.0 is immediately after the top zipper ends. This is problematic if attaching accessories like a PIO Pod because the zipper runs into it whereas on the 1.0 the Hypalon attachment is slightly off center of the zipper end point and therefore accessories don't get in the way when zipping. The 2.0 has the Velcro strip on the bag top so you can add a fly patch dock. You definitely want one of these systems. Just some thoughts not in the descriptions. If you have local fly shop pop in and see them in person if you can. But of course buy them here ;)

The pack is a nice size. I love that fact that this is a back brace / wading belt that also has function. The sliding rail that allows you to move the pack is an extremely nice addition. The belt system on this pack keeps your back in good shape for a long day of fishing. The hip pack allows you to bring along those extra items you need. I use this system in conjunction with a sling pack, which works well.
