ORVIS BATTENKILL I DISC FLY REEL : 1-3WT
The Orvis Battenkill I Disc Reel combines classic reel design with a top of the line drag system making it a perfect match for any 1-3wt rod in your arsenal. There has been a long and historically successful line of Battenkill reels through Orvis history. Simple, proven, maintenance-free, and a great performance value. This latest Battenkill Disc version is true to its heritage in looks and performance but updated with the latest in design improvements resulting in a more powerful drag system. The porting and finish pay unmistakable homage to the Battenkills of the past, but this reel incorporates our best-selling mid-arbor design.
Underneath that mid arbor is the same sealed drag system found in the Hydros SL incorporating six interacting carbon and stainless drag surfaces. Positive click drag is simple and easy to adjust. The reel is machined from barstock 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum with an ergonomic Delrin handle. Easy conversion from left to right hand.

I have purchased numerous Battenkill reels of various types and sizes ove the past few decades. My recent purchase of the battenkill disc I turned out to be, "just the right recipe" for my new Sage 1wt rod. I like the price, way it feels, looks, and performs. I really like the fact that the drag system is fully sealed from water. If your considering the purchase of a reel for a 1-3wt rod, the Orvis battenkill disc I may be the reel your looking for.

Recently I purchased new Battenkill Disc I and II reels. Powerful yet smooth fully sealed drag system. Tight machining tolerances...fit and finish is top notch. Love the click sound when drag engages and upon line retrieval(much nicer than past Battenkill model). Mid arbor design in a nice, lightweight, compact size. These balance nicely on my 8’ 3wt and 9’ 5wt rods.
Great reels at an attractive price point. These will be a pleasure to fish this year for trout in the Rockies...

I purchased my first battenkill reel somewhere around 1976. I have used many different reels over the years, but my two favorites are my first Battenkill and a little CFO I purchased some tears later for my “ One- Weight” setup. I gave ALL of my gear to my son who moved to Colorado 5 years ago. I just bought my new Battenkill Disc Reel to start over again. It is certain to become my new favorite.
