Love these latest Battenkill reels from Orvis. Have owned Battenkills in the past…these are nicer made reels in my opinion. Having extra spools just make a great reel that much more versatile.🙂

I previously ordered the Battenkill II reel to pair with my 4wt Clearwater rod, and i dont have any complaints. I am new to the sport but I like the click and paw system instead of the disc drag that I had previously worked with. Its light and not consequential in weight IMO. I fish small streams and brooks but do quite a bit of acrobatics (think goofy movie) and the outfit I would recommend to any beginner or intermediate flyer. I also enjoy the clicking noise the reel makes - reminds me of my campy cassette pawls. If your hyper sensitive or really want to tune into nature maybe a disk drag could be more preferable.
