The 2019 Orvis Clearwater 905-4 Fly Rod Outfit features the new Orvis Clearwater 9'0" 5wt Fly Rod, new 2019 Orvis Clearwater II Fly Reel, and Orvis Clearwater WF floating fly line, Clearwater cordura rod tube, Orvis braided dacron backing, and Orvis tapered leader, shipped professionally rigged and ready to fish...just tie on a fly!

The new Orvis Clearwater 905-4 Fly Rod is the perfect all-purpose trout rod for rivers, ponds, and lakes of all sizes. Not only does it have the length to reach out and control drifts and the power to reach far banks, but the line weight to handle big trout and smaller bass. Firing a big streamer up and across a big river and reaching out to mend the line and control the drift is right in this rod's wheelhouse. From throwing big attractors with droppers, big hoppers in the early fall, or delivering delicate dry flies at 80 feet, the Clearwater 905-4 is the weapon of choice that will still leave some cash in your pocket.

The new Clearwater Rod Series is not just a cosmetic facelift, but a complete overhaul from the ground up by our Vermont rod designers. Everything has changed except the value. It's still the best fly rod you can buy for the money, but with a significant upgrade in performance and looks in a comprehensive series that covers every angler from small stream addicts to Skagit slinging two-handers. Each rod was designed with a purpose-built profile and action to handle the kind of fishing the rod model would be traditionally used for, from medium-action small stream rods to medium-fast freshwater rods and fast-action big game rods.

    • 9”0” 5-weight is the perfect all-purpose trout and light bass rod
    • Blanks are black chrome with white accents
    • Quick rod identifier on the blank
    • Chrome snake and stripping guide with a ceramic insert
    • Full black nickel aluminum reel seats
    • Includes Clearwater cordura divided rod tube
    • Backed by the Orvis 25-Year Guarantee
    • Each Clearwater rod taper designed in Vermont

The Orvis Clearwater II Fly Reel may be the best reel in price and construction than any other reel on the market. Finally, a cast aluminum large arbor fly fishing reel that is lightweight enough to balance properly with your favorite fly rod and truly the best value fly reel around. Two years in design and development and with a powerful inline, Rulon to stainless, stacked disc drag that can hold its own with high-performance machined reels, the all new Clearwater Large Arbor costs significantly less than its machined cousins, but has not only the looks, but the guts of a higher-priced reel.

Easily converted to either left or right-hand retrieve, Clearwater fly reels have a positive click drag knob for consistent settings every time. Whether you're looking for your first large arbor, fishing on a budget, or want a spare or two in the bag, the new Clearwater Large Arbor can handle anything a machined reel can, and completely changes the game in die cast reels. Orvis Clearwater is a perfect choice for an affordable reel with a excellent drag system.

    • Attractive cast aluminum frame and spool
    • Large arbor for fast line retrieval
    • Powerful Rulon to stainless stacked disc drag system
    • Easily converted to either left or right-hand retrieve
    • Positive click drag knob for consistent settings every time

Orvis Clearwater WF floating fly lines are built a half-size heavier to provide extra help loading the rod, casting larger flies, and handling the wind. A compact head helps to transfer energy more efficiently, load the rod in close, throw tighter loops, and turn over flies. This is the perfect choice for the newer fly fisher or those anglers that don't mind making casting a little bit easier. Clearwater lines feature Integrated Slickness Technology to shoot line further and have a front welded loop for quick rigging changes.

    • Designed to make effortless casts and throw tight loops
    • Built a half-size heavy to help load the rod
    • Compact head turns over larger flies
    • Built with Integrated Slickness—a patented additive for reduced friction
    • Welded loop for easy leader changes
    • Positive Line ID to easily identify line weight

I was very pleased with the quality of this Orvis Rod/Reel Combo especially at this price point. The 25 yr guarantee is also a big plus. It was a Christmas gift to my son-in-law so that we can enjoy some quality fly fishing in the spring.

I used a friend’s Clearwater rod and reel and I was amazed at its quality and responsiveness. I ordered it from and it arrived within 2 days. Can’t wait to get it out on a North Carolina river in two weeks.

    Great Rod

This is a great rod combo for the price. I have been fly fishing for years but mostly saltwater and wanted a nice all around freshwater rod without breaking the bank. This clearwater outfit does just the trick. It is super responsive and I have had great success fishing trout streams as well as large lakes for Bass.

Bought this rod-reel combo to replace my cabelas brand combo and the Orvis purchase was worth every penny. It felt good in my hands and was easy to cast and land a fish (actually caught a trout first cast out). the line flowed through the eyelits with ease (almost to easy at times) and the fact that it came preloaded with line and tippet made it perfect. the only flaw is there is no hook-set near the cork for when you need to place the hook on the rod in between river locations. otherwise love it!!! the purchase process on reelflyrod was super quick and easy and registering the rod with Orvis was also super easy

I purchased this outfit to upgrade from my father's 20 year old Cabelas rod and I could not be more happy. Casting is effortless and the warrantee is great. This is the best outfit for the money and I would recommend it for anyone interested in getting into fly fishing.

Great Service and Response, Product was as described

Fishing all my life 71 yrs, but brand new to fly fishing. Bought the Clearwater outfit 9ft 5X. Perfect rod and set up for a rookie fly fisherman. Orvis makes a good product and Reelflyrod gives a nice price. As one person mentioned would be nice to have a hook attachment on the rod but that is minor "use your imagination". Have not been in the water yet but practicing in the yard. Somewhat easier than I thought to cast, but need more practice. My two boys and i are planning when we get comfortable with the outfits to go out west and hit the trout streams in the mountains. This equipment should hold up to just about anything we hook, well maybe not a bear, but you understand. I would recommend Rodflyreel and Orvis to anyone if they are considering fly fishing.
