ORVIS HYDROS II FLY REEL : 3-5WT
The re-designed Hydros Fly Reel for 2020, features a lightweight bar-stock aluminum machined frame and spool, fully sealed drag, and best-in-class line pickup per revolution, buttery-smooth startup inertia and a narrower spool that reduces line stacking. The Hydros reel incorporates an improved seal carbon and stainless drag along with a reduction in weight balance for lighter fly rods. The New Orvis Hydros II will match any fishing application and have the stopping power for the largest trout or smallmouth. The newly upgraded sealed drag gives the angler a smoother and more powerful reel for protecting light tippet against these larger trout and smallmouth on a 3-5wt fly rod.

Great little reel, drag is smooth and doesn't make clickety-clack sound like a low-end reel. Landed plenty of large browns efficiently with this little tool. Paired up with 10' 3wt Recon.

This reel is made well and you can tell by handling it. Quality machining, clean lines and very smooth drag. Love the indexed drag setting on the knob too. Paired with a 9ft 5wt Winston Nimbus. Made the right choice to go with the II series (3-5wt) vs. the III series (5-7weight). I'd rather be lighter on the reel than heavier, with that rod.

This reel is quite smooth. I have it paired with a 9 ft 5 wt Orvis Recon, and the balance between these two is pheneomenal. I bought the silver version, and it is very attractive. It has a very smooth retrieve, and the drag system is about as good as you'll ever need with a 3-5 wt rod.

I use this reel on an Orvis Recon 9' 5wt rod for northeast stream trout. The reel is matched perfectly for that setup. While I haven't needed to engage the drag for trout, the drag engages smoothly, which is unlike a lot of other reels I've used. This is a great reel, especially for the price.
