ORVIS PRO WADING BOOT, WITH MICHELIN SOLE
In an industry-first collaborative effort with Michelin, Orvis introduces the PRO Wading Boot. Built on an outsole compound specifically designed for fly fishing, this revolutionary new sole design is an industry disrupting advance in wet rubber traction. The Michelin Outdoor Extreme outsole offers 25% better abrasion resistance and a resounding 43% improvement in wet rubber traction. Using Michelin tire geometry, it offers a wider footprint for stability, a higher ratio of surface contact, and a lug pattern that reduces shock and improves pressure distribution. The two-layer midsole has a co-molded ESS plate that provides improved stud retention and torsional stability. The shock absorbing Phylon midsole improves “river feel” and compresses less than standard EVA midsoles.
Orvis partnered with Ortholite to create a 3D molded X25 insole designed for high-impact sports, delivering maximum comfort and arch support. An industry first cast PU upper eliminates seams while providing a zoned cage for added stability, grip, and extreme abrasion resistance without the added bulk. The boot is higher cut for ankle support and lined with closed-cell foam. Scratch rubber at the toe cap and heel for abrasion resistance, an oversized heel pull for easier on-and-off, and tightly woven laces reduce broken laces.

These boots have been great so far for Erie Trib. steelhead wading. I installed 30 kold kutter studs in each sole. Performance has been better than I expected. Zero stud losses and solid traction on slippery shale.

Had an old, inexpensive heavy pair of wading boots. Was looking for something more lightweight for long hikes along river banks and these fit the bill. The size was right on for me (size 10) and the traction has been great in the fairly slippery rivers that I tend to fish. Definitely recommend.

I have the Orvis Boa Boot for my wet wading boots, I had actually bought them for year round, but did not take into account the extra thermal sock layers when I sized them. So, it gave me an excuse to get a new pair of boots... :)
The traction on these boots is remarkable, I have not had any issues with slipping except on the slimiest rock. I will stud them soon to alleviate that but it is amazing the grip without studs. The insoles are unbelievably comfortable and I have fallen arches, which usually make it difficult to gain comfort in a wading boot. The outsides of these boots seem immune to damage and don't show wear easily. I love how quickly they drain when I leave the water.
The boots are great for hiking into the fishing spots, the cleats clear well and provide good traction. The only drawback for me is the height of the boot causes it to rub a bit on my calf due to the stiffness; though I believe this will lessen as they wear in over time.
Would I recommend them to others, without a doubt, these are incredible and an advance over any other boots I have owned or tried. After the great experience I have had at Reelflyrod, I would not hesitate to recommend them for your fly fishing needs, and that includes getting a new pair of boots because you "undersized" your other pair..

Great Boots, super picky on slippery PA rocks, Better than my existing boots with the Aluminum bars. Easy for long hicks to back waters. one size larger than shoe size.
