The Sage R8 Core 5wt 8'6" Fly Rod is the perfect all-around dry fly rod for rivers and lakes. The 8'6" length allows for a slightly better feel at the rod tip for more accurate presentations with tiny dries at longer distances. With enough weight, the rod can handle streamers, sink tips, and full sinking very easy! An 8'6" tends to feel lighter in hand than a 9'0" also allowing a quicker cast at shorter distances where you may have alders encroaching over your waters.

At its core, R8 CORE traces a direct lineage to Sage’s multi-application vision, one shaped by the fishing evolutions happening all around us—from habitats we stalk and waters we frequent, to the flies we fish and the diversity of species we now target.
The R8 Core features a new pattern of woven carbon fiber that allowed Sage to impart more of their proprietary resin into the blank. The result of this new pattern means that the rod is stronger farther up the blank than competitors. The combination of the new carbon fiber pattern and more resin makes the rod incredibly light in hand while not sacrificing any strength in the top 1/3rd of the rod. The new Revolution 8 Technology makes the R8 one of the most technologically advanced rods on the market. The R8 is finished with a dark olive blank, grey primary guide wraps with a handsome gradient grey-to-white tipping.
