Building off of the popular Boost series, Echo developed the Boost Fresh to make improvements off of the previous model. The new rod has shed some weight, has upgraded componentry, and has bumped up the performance as well. The Boost series is now clearly delineated between the Boost Fresh which is perfect for trout and the Boost Blue which covers 6-12 weights aimed toward saltwater species.
Performance
Our Pro Staff had the chance to test the 5wt 9'0" rod one afternoon when our Echo Fly Fishing sales representative came into town. Just from casting the Boost Fresh, we could tell that the rod was something special. We felt that the Boost Fresh was faster than its predecessor and that it performed better in the hands off our anglers that had a faster casting stroke.
We tested the rod with a few different fly lines to find which one matched the rod the best, the Scientific Anglers MPX, the RIO Premier Gold, and the new Airflo Ridge 2.0 Universal Taper. The head of the RIO Gold felt like it was a little too long and was hard to get shorter strikes out consistently. The SA MPX felt good on the rod but left a little to be desired when trying to present dry flies softly. We like the Airflo Universal Taper because of its ability to cover a wide variety of fishing techniques.
Action
The Boost Fresh is a little bit faster than the Boost which allowed us to push the pace a bit and throw a little more distance from our lines. The crisp, fast action of the rod was comfortable to cast and our Pro Staff felt like it was rod that anyone could step into and experience success.

Reel Seat
Uplocking lightweight aluminum in black. Echo logo and line weight is laser etched into the top of each reel seat. Guides will find the line weight etched onto the seat a great feature when they are out with guiding, and they need to reach for the right to hand to the client.

Single stripping guide with snake guides.
Cork
High-quality half-wells cork is comfortable in hand during longer days on the water. The front of the handle tapers quite sharply which is comfortable for anglers with smaller hands.
Blank
A Kelly Green blank punctuates the clean look of the Boost Fresh. With lime green and white rod markers on this rod, the Boost Fresh has just enough 'pop' to catch the eyes of your fellow anglers.
Wraps
Clean green wraps with black tipping. Complete with alignment dots which makes setting up your rod much easier.
Rod Tube
Green fiberglass rod tube with carrying strap. Cloth rod sock included.
Warranty
All ECHO rods are covered by our policy over the natural life of the product for the original owner at the discretion of Rajeff Sports. Rods that are determined to be damaged by abuse or neglect, either by physical or environmental factors (excessive wear and tear beyond normal use, saltwater corrosion, mold damage, damage from vehicles, etc) are not covered by our warranty policy.
