ORVIS ENCOUNTER IV FLY REEL : 7-9WT

The Orvis Encounter II Fly Reel is attractive, rugged, and most importantly, has a beefy drag system. These reels are constructed to take plenty of abuse and still perform smoothly. Encounter reels feature a large arbor design to retrieve line faster and help keep line memory free.

Easily converted to either left or right-hand retrieve, Encounter fly reels have a positive click drag knob for consistent settings every time. Whether you're looking for your first large arbor, fishing on a budget, or want a spare or two in the bag, the new Encounter II Large Arbor can handle anything a machined reel can, and is a great performance value in entry level reels. Orvis Encounter is a perfect choice for an affordable reel with an excellent drag system.

    REEL FEATURES:

    • Attractive, durable composite frame and spool
    • Large arbor for fast line retrieval
    • Powerful disc drag system
    • Easily converted to either left or right-hand retrieve
    • Positive click drag knob for consistent settings every time

    ORVIS WF FLOATING FLY LINE

Orvis WF floating fly lines are built a half-size heavier to provide extra help loading the rod, casting larger flies, and handling the wind. A compact head helps to transfer energy more efficiently, load the rod in close, throw tighter loops, and turn over flies. This is the perfect choice for the newer fly fisher or those anglers that don't mind making casting a little bit easier.

I purchased this combo in October and I’m very happy with the rod for the price. It’s much easier to cast then other combos I own. The reel feels cheap because of the plastic however it functions well and it very light weight. I recommend this combo to any one starting out fly fishing.

This is my first fly rod & reel combo purchase and I couldn't be happier. Since it's my first, I didn't want to break the bank but I didn't want cheap junk either! This seems to be a good quality entry level combo that is perfect for learning the basics since it's delivered already set up, ready to assemble and hit the water. Very happy with my purchase.

Even though this rod is made in China, I cast it everyday and never have any issues. You could do much, much worse for the price. I can’t say enough about how well this rod performs in comparison to its other price range competitors (cabellas, Scientific angler, etc etc)

I am impressed with this setup for the cost. I mainly purchased it for schoolie stripers and it casts surprisingly well and handles the stripers well. Would definitely recommend it for an entry level saltwater setup

I love my 8 wt. it feels great I. Hand and has good balance. The durability so far is excellent as before I even fished with it, it got the fly line and tip into a ceiling fan on high and sucked the rod into it. It messed up my set-up but the rod held up! Most rods ( and I’ve had a few ) have had the eyes or tip brake in the river on much less. So, I’d say it’s broken in. Cast nice. Drag wheel is get what u pay for, which is what I wanted. A great combo for a excellent price!
