ESN Fly Reels are packed with a suite of specialty features with the
Euro-Nymph angler in mind and is fine tuned to the nuances of each
application. Built around a super thin and large diameter arbor, this
design now makes it easier to get fish on the reel quickly, minimizing
the need to guide line onto the spool with your finger, all while
providing consistent drag output.
A
unique balance system allows anglers to assemble and fine tune a set of
weights, so the ESN reel can perfectly balance any Euro Nymphing (or
standard) rod. Add in a full frame that prevents fine leaders and lines
from sneaking through the frame and sealed carbon drag system that
provides a smooth uptake – leaving you with the ultimate fish-catching
machine.
Adjustable
Weights for Balancing: The ESN reel comes in one size, containing 3
interchangeable accessory weights (1/2oz, 1oz, and 1 1/2oz), and is
appropriate for dialing in any Euro Nymphing setup on the market.

Perfect reel for the Sage ESN rod. Love the option to put light weights on the reel to balance the rod to a feel that I like.

Nice reel, solves the problem of line escaping from the spool when using thin mono running line for Euro nymphing. In the stealth color the reel looks sharp and clean. Everything you would expect from a Sage reel. I use mine without any of the added weight on a 10 ft 3 weight rod - I want the reel as light as possible. Extra weights are easily added if you wanted a heavier reel for balancing on a longer or heavier rod.

Man this reel hits on every sensory input. It looks beautiful. I ordered mine in Chipotle. It feels awesome to the touch. Action feels like a Swiss watch. The click is just right as well. Sage really did their homework on this one. It really is a work of art hanging off the end of my fly rod. The balancing system is totally unique. I used the 1 oz. weight rotated one position forward to perfectly balance my 10' 3 line with several feet of fly line out. Only down sides are for $425, wish it was made in America, not Korea. With the weight added, reel is on the heavy side. Full spool frame can be a little slow threading your leader compared to non-full framed reels.
