I had a previous rod from a competitor and it just felt lifeless.
After returning that I picked this up, it's a world of difference.
The action is smooth and works well over and under weighted.
When you look at the price of the cheaper rods (without warranties) you're not really saving a lot of money in the long run.
The rod tube is solid and keeps everything nice and safe.
I'm very surprised with the quality at this price point.

I am able to fly fish less often than I would like, but when I do I love my new rod. I replaced my cabelas rod with this orvis - ZERO REGRETS!. the line flows nicely, its easy to assemble and take down, and when a fish is on....great fight! recommend for anyone

I own the newest iteration of the Recon and wasn't sure about getting a Clearwater because of it's cheaper price. I'm embarrassed to say that I think it casts pretty much as well as the recon. It's not as attractive at the reel seat, but it's a great rod!

There is a reason this rod continues to compete and surpass rods triple it's price point in 5 Wt shoot-outs every year. An absolute bargain at its price point when considering the quality and 25 year warranty. Fantastic med-fast action allows me to gently lay down a dry fly or chuck a big streamer when needed. I love it!

Have had this rod for over a year now and have nothing but good times with it . It’s a smooth casting light wight rod with Plenty of back bone I use it for bass fishing down here on the west coast of Florida the biggest large mouth I’ve gotten so far with it was 6lbs 11.oz and the rod preformed over my expectations

I bought this for my mom as a gift because she wanted to start getting into fly fishing. I did a lot of research concerning the best rods for the price, and really could not find any better than this one. I called ReelFlyRod and talked with Parker, who was really helpful in helping me decide on the right length. We settled for the 9' rather than the 8'6". My mom loves it. I am very impressed with the rod, and for the price, it really cannot be beat. Plus, with Orvis, the warranty on this rod is incredible. I am very happy with the purchase choice.

PURCHASED FOR MY 15 YEAR OLD THAT WANTED TO GET IN TO FLY FISHING SO I FIGURED THIS WOULD BE A GOOD STARTER ROD THAT WOULD STILL BE GOOD QUALITY AND IF HE DIDNT STICK WITH IT I WOULD BE OUT A LOT OF MONEY AND WOULD HAVE A DECENT ROD FOR A LOANER OR BACKUP. HE LOVES IT AND I COULDNT BE HAPPIER!

Great rod to start out with that doesn't break the bank! IT's been great so far, but I saw our guide in MT snap the tip pretty easily. Hopefully this doesn't happen to me, but there's a warranty so it's easily replaceable!
