There are times when less is more, the new Mirage LT fly reel is everything its big brother is, but designed to balance perfectly with lighter rods and yet still offer legendary Mirage engineering and performance. Mirage LT features a lighter version of the sealed and maintenance-free carbon and stainless steel disc drag system that adjusts from zero to full drag in a single drag knob rotation. With zero start-up inertia and precise low-end control it eliminates line shock and protects light tippets with the same silky smooth drag, and yet offers more stopping power than you will ever need for trout, bass, pike, musky, or carp. 30% lighter and 30% narrower, the Mirage LT is made in New Hampshire by the same skilled American craftsmen that build the Mirage. The LT offers the same increased retrieve rates, reduction in line coil, and is machined from the same strong, yet lightweight, 6061 T6 aluminum barstock as the Mirage. Ergonomically designed, machined aluminum handle. Quick-release spool easily converts from left- to right-hand retrieve. Type II anodizing. Titanium shaft reduces weight and adds durable power transmission. Fully radiused reel foot prevents kinked leaders. Low-profile counterweight won't catch fingers or fly lines. Made in USA.

I have three orvis mirage LTS, and they're great fish in the flats of the Texas coast or on the river. The size 3 paired up perfect with my 8 weight g Loomis asquith for stalking redfish. Makes for a nice lightweight setup.

I fish my LT on a Helios 2 5wt and its a really, really nice combo. This is a light reel so make sure it goes on a light rod or you'll be a bit tip heavy. The construction is outstanding and its smooth as can be. Well done Orvis.

This is a beautiful reel that came fully ready to fish. I caught fish with it almost immediately in Gore Creek in Vail, Colorado.

What a fantastic looking reel. I had been shopping around for a new fly reel for a while and I couldn't make up my mind. I new I wanted something on the lighter side but wanted to make sure it was going to be a durable reel. I kept circling back to the Mirage LT series. It arrived and as soon as I unboxed this reel I new I made the right choice. I purchased in olive color and it screams quality/precision built. I am planning on using it in a couple of weeks on an Eastern Sierra trip. It will be paired up with my Helios. I can't wait to put it to work.

This reel is best I've owned yet. I love how it's versatile to use with a 5wt up to a 7wt. Most reels this size are for 6wts and 7wts only, but I love to use mine (loaded with 6wt line) on my 6wt rod but also use it on my 5wt to 'overload' my stiff Sage One. The drag system is intuitive, easy to use and goes from very loose to totally lock-tight, and everywhere in between. It's very well built and a beauty to just hold or admire while on the water. I'd buy another one, but I don't need to because everything from my 5wt up to a 7wt (if/WHEN I buy one is covered). Also made in USA which for me is very important.
