Having tried many brands of tapered leaders over the past few years I have settled on the Orvis brand for their consistency and quality. I have them in 7 1/2 and 9 foot lengths with attached tippet rings depending on conditions and what flies I’m throwing. The Orvis leaders are my go to leaders.

I really like these leaders because they uncoil and are straight. they have almost no memory to them and they do not kink when fishing. I would recommend matching this with the Orvis tippet as well.

It is rare that a pack of 5x and 6x Super Strong Plus leaders are not in my vest pocket. They're affordable, straighten easily and have yet to fail me where it counts. Nice all around tapered leader material for those who don't want to bother tying their own.

These Orvis tapered leaders are very good. They turnover nicely, and the breaking strength has been accurate. They are a bit more expensive than some others, but I know what I will be getting. I typically use the 9' 5x leaders, and add some 6x to the end (if necessary) with a surgeon's know to get my leader to about 10'6".

This is a great tapered leader for all trout uses. I fish the 7.5' leader on my short 7'6" 3wt. It handles the small creeks and trout that live in them without a problem. I've also never had the line fail for a reason other than angler incompetence.
