This is a great tapered leader for all trout uses. I fish the 7.5' leader on my short 7'6" 3wt. It handles the small creeks and trout that live in them without a problem. I've also never had the line fail for a reason other than angler incompetence.

I've fished these leaders primarily on lighter rods (1 wt - 3 wt) while chasing trout in small stream settings. 7.5' length is perfect for this purpose allowing a short stretch of tippet to be tied on without creating a overall leader too long to handle in tight quarters. Well worth it, especially at Reelflyrod's pice.
