I use mine in saltwater. You really need to disassemble and rinse throughly so it doesn't rust. Mine still works great even after a couple years usage in the salt. It's fine for stripers and blues in the north east. Wouldn't put a bonefish on it.

I've tried a number of reels, and I can say that the Redington Crosswater never disappoint me. The tend to balance my rods well, and that remains true with the 7/8/9 reel that I recently picked up. I've got it paired with my vintage Fenwick FF85. Is the reel vintage? No. Is it affordable? Hell yes. Does it balance my rod? Yes, beautifully. Do I love it? Damn straight I do. I'm confident I'll be using Redington Crosswater's as long as they're available. They're pretty sturdy, and they do the job well.
