The Trout HD Spey 4wt is the heaviest of the HD Spey series designed for larger rivers and heavier flies. Strong enough to cast shooting heads, traditional spey and running lines with articulated streamers, yet incredible action for fish fighting and strike detection. The 11'3" is tapered and designed for larger river swings in the 30-50ft range which is seen in the west and many tailwater rivers. Pair this 4wt with any 4-6wt fly reel for perfect balance of swing weight in hand. We recommend this rod to perform exceptionally well with soft hackle swings, high stick nymphing, and streamers in the 3-4" range.
The Trout HD Spey series includes five rods from 10’3” to 11’3” excel with a variety of spey lines that are currently offered in 200-350gr sizes. The Trout HD Spey rods are primarily designed for spey casting as opposed to Switch rod style actions previously captured within Trout Spey category and features an action designed for skagit and scandi style casting techniques with trout appropriate sized flies.
