Sage Trout LL fly rods feature a delicate touch and smooth, medium-action, designed with the trout angler and flawless dry fly presentations in mind. The Trout LL 5wt 9'0" is designed and tapered for any trout presentation or application. The longer 9'0" in the Trout LL will aid in distance casting, while providing superior mend control on those longer drag-free drifts.
Through blank taper optimization and specialized length offerings, the Trout LL is perfected for wade fishing, closer casts, small flies, and light tippets. A relatively supple tip maximizes light tippet protection and gives way to a smooth easy-loading mid-section that increases feel and feedback throughout the casting stroke. When the hatch is on, the Trout LL is an angler’s best friend. Drawing inspiration from historic Sage rods of the past, the Trout LL is a nod toward tradition with a classic appearance and a smooth casting taper, yet adds modern performance features in accuracy and loop control through the backbone of Konnetic HD blank material.
The Trout LL series is available in a combination of classic dry fly line weights and lengths 7’9” though 9’0” while beautiful wood inserts and premium componentry add an elegant touch to these high performance rods.

Beautiful rod . Smooth progressive taper that can easily cast 70 feet . I like a true to weight 5 wt fly line like the RIO Premier Technical Trout on this Sage 590 LL. It cast smoothly for me and doesn’t slow down the tout . The rod is smooth and delicate but still has power in the the rod .

I purchased this rod to fish for large trout on the San Juan River. There are times on the San Juan where small midges, size 26, are needed paired up with 7x tippet. I caught several fish I the 5 and 6 pound range consecutively while others were no getting bit because of too large a tippet or breaking off because too stiff a rod. This rod helps you play these big fish. The rod casts a little slower than most graphite rods but I love it; I can still manage an accurate 80’ cast if needed, it still has power. Thinking about getting a 6 wt as well!
