I tied small trout flies on a Regal traditional vise for decades, never appreciating what I was missing. My recent move to bigger, more complicated saltwater flies motivated me to explore rotary vises. I did my research on the premium brands, any of which I'm sure would be adequate. But I noticed in the tying videos that I was watching that a lot of the pros were using Dyna-King. That and a recommendation from a buddy caused me to pull the trigger on a Barracuda, and I have not looked back. How did I ever tie without rotary.
As noted in a previous review, the quality is top notch, Everything is rock solid, and the pedestal base is heavy enough that I can tug the thread full force on big flies with nary a wobble. The rotation is smooth as glass, and the jaws fit a wide range of hooks without the need for switching jaws.
The previous review noted that setting the hook into the jaws can be tricky, and I have found that the guage accessory that Dyna-King sells helps. The trim bag is a nice accessory as well and complements the vice well.
For the price I don't think you can go wrong.

I have been using this vise for over a month now and I absolutely love it. The rotary feature is fantastic, the quality is top notch, and the customer service is outstanding. One of the screws arrived bent in my order, so I called Dyna-King and they sent me a new one immediately. I would recommend supporting their business without question. The only criticism of this vise is the jaws take a little nuance to lock tight when changing hook sizes. This does not bother me, but it should be noted if you are looking for speed when changing hook sizes. Once the jaws are adjusted properly, they hold tight. I look forward to this piece of equipment lasting me for many years to come. Tight lines.
