ORVIS HYDROS II FLY REEL : 3-5WT
The re-designed Hydros Fly Reel for 2020, features a lightweight bar-stock aluminum machined frame and spool, fully sealed drag, and best-in-class line pickup per revolution, buttery-smooth startup inertia and a narrower spool that reduces line stacking. The Hydros reel incorporates an improved seal carbon and stainless drag along with a reduction in weight balance for lighter fly rods. The New Orvis Hydros II will match any fishing application and have the stopping power for the largest trout or smallmouth. The newly upgraded sealed drag gives the angler a smoother and more powerful reel for protecting light tippet against these larger trout and smallmouth on a 3-5wt fly rod.

Like the reel and had no issues with it until fishing in sub zero conditions...reel seized up but would free up back in the room at night then seize up again once outside in the conditions...sent it back to Orvis for repair/warranty

I paired this reel with an Orvis Clearwater 9' 5wt and a floating line and it's been a fantastic combination for the rivers of SW Montana. Whether I'm wading or fishing out of a boat, I've found the Hydros reel to be adept and capable for anything that wants to take dries and nymphs. Really easy mechanism to swap out reels (I only have one now) and the drag knob is large enough to grip even with slightly numb fingers. Very smooth drag, and quiet! I'll be using this reel for years to come, I can tell already. That's about what I'd expect from Orvis - even the entrant models seem top notch.

Really nice reel with the quality you expect from Orvis. Paired with a G. Loomis IMX Creek 4Wt rod and a RIO Creek 4Wt line. Casts are super smooth and accurate. Looking forward to many years of use. Shipping A+++ and really nice service coming fully loaded and ready to fish including a leader!

Purchased this reel as a gift to upgrade my partner's setup. It handles very well, and the larger arbor style is great for anglers of all experience levels, and who like to work with a lot of line. The drag functions well for all different sizes of catch, and the clean smooth performance is exactly the quality I was hoping for. This reel balances and feels extremely good on the Orvis H3F. Not to mention it looks very good too. It also has enough drag to stop a whale.
