NEW! RIO ELITE FLATS PRO INTERMEDIATE FLY LINE
RIO's New Eilte Flats Pro Intermediate saltwater fly line is designed for anglers hitting tropical flats in search of bonefish, permit and tarpon. The line is built on RIO's new DirectCore and Slickcast coating, a proprietary low-memory, low-stretch monofilament core that retains its stiffness in tropical heat, yet lies straight on the water without curl or retraction. The core, which has 30% less stretch than regular tropical saltwater fly lines, casts further, ensures solid strip sets, and shortens fight times. The Slickcast creates the slickest, most durable coating on the market-producing the least amount of friction ever measured on a fly line.
RIO Flats Pro lines incorporate the SureFire triple color, distance-marking design that takes the guesswork out of accuracy and distance control, allowing anglers to make higher percentage shots to cruising targets. This line is a full intermediate sinking line, and an excellent option for off shore, and around rock marks and structure. It is particularly great when there is any kind of "wave" or "swell" as it gets under the surface and ensures angler stay in touch with the fly at all times.

I got this line for beach fishing from the barrier islands in Florida, where the water depth quickly drops away to 6 feet or so quite close to the beach. As expected, it’s excellent for getting below the waves and getting down below any floating seaweed. Anyone who’s been frustrated with using a floating line when there has been weed on the surface will greatly appreciate this line! The sink rate is perfect, gently submerging so it’s easy to keep the line just below the surface while stripping, which makes re-casting much easier. But the biggest surprise for me was using it to sight cast to snook up against the shoreline, in just 6” water. Floating line tends to make the fly rise up with each strip, which is very unnatural for a fleeing baitfish. But the Rio intermediate line keeps the fly hugging the sand, just as a fleeing baitfish would do. Wonderful, and deadly for snook. The clear tip helps keep everything stealthy.
