ROSS ANIMAS 5/6 FLY REEL
The Animas also joins the family by incorporating an ultra-light canvas phenolic handle which gets tackier when wet. A new trouble-free spool release yields zero-maintenance performance, allowing the Animas to be ready for any fresh or saltwater excursion. I started with the 3/4 for my nymphing setup, After receiving, I upgraded some of my other gear and got the 5/6 and 7/8. There is simply not a better reel for the money

I got the platinum version and it was absolutely beautiful. First day out with it I landed 5+ fish with one over 18 inches, the drag stopped that fish in its tracks.

Had a chance to try my new Ross Reel Animas yesterday on the Lower American. I bought the 5/6 wt to match up to my Sage One 6 wt rod. It performed flawlessly. The Shad run is happening right now on the river for their annual spawn and I hooked into several hens that were in the 1.5 to 2 lb range. I let them run to test the drag system on my Ross reel and it worked beautifully. The reel is light weight and I had mine lined with Rio One Hand Spey line to swing Shad Fly's. It is also a beautiful looking reel. I purchased the Platinum color and looks great with my Sage rod which is black. Would definitely by another Ross Reel.

I purchased this reel when it was on sale and it was a great value. Also was delivered within a day. Great reel at fantastic price and the store employees answered every question I had. Can't wait to get it out on the river.

Reel came in a timely manner and out of the box looks amazing. The reel feels solid and well constructed and not to mention lightweight. They did a great job putting custom backing and my requested fly line on it so its ready to hit the river. Can’t wait to get out and give this reel a try.

I couldn't believe how beautiful, smooth, lightweight and impressive this reel was. I got the platinum 5/6 for my 5 wt and it looks awesome with orange backing and tan/green line. The reel is insanely lightweight with you first pick it up out of the box and you can tell it's very very well made. I was a little nervous about the oring retention system for the spool but it seems solid and may actually be a lot more handy than I first imagined with a 2nd spool. highly highly recommend this reel, especially for lightweight setups.

I purchased this reel after doing a lot of research on what would pair well with both my Scott Radian and T&T Avantt. I can say that I’m not disappointed- precision machining, beautiful and functional design, a solid drag, and attention to detail. One feature I like is having two different types of clicks- a quieter retrieve click and a louder outgoing click. This reel is going to see years of use!
